Prieto & Vega is the new design practice of Juanmi Juárez Prieto and Alex Estevez Vega, born from the evolution of their previous collaboration and built on years of shared experience and a common vision for the future.
Their creative journey began in 2008 with the founding of Mermelada Estudio, alongside Laura Blasco. Over the following years, they designed furniture, lighting and objects for internationally recognised brands across both the residential and contract sectors, including Moroso, BD Barcelona, Fermob and Kvadrat. Their long-standing collaboration with CB2 has been especially significant, resulting in numerous successful collections since it began in 2012.
In 2026, they opened a new chapter with the founding of Prieto & Vega.
The studio takes its name from the founders' maternal surnames—an uncommon choice outside the Spanish-speaking world, where both paternal and maternal family names have traditionally been passed down through generations.
For Juanmi and Alex, choosing these names is more than a tribute; it is a quiet affirmation of who they are. It reflects their Hispanic-Mediterranean heritage and celebrates a cultural identity rooted in family, craftsmanship and a way of living where beauty is found in simplicity and everyday rituals.
Above all, it honours their mothers, whose love, care and quiet strength continue to inspire the way they approach design. These values have become the foundation of the studio: creating objects with sensitivity, intention and lasting meaning.
Their work exists in the space between simplicity and sculptural expression, craftsmanship and industry, memory and contemporaneity. Rather than pursuing a recognisable style, Prieto & Vega cultivates a recognisable attitude: thoughtful, curious and enduring. They believe that good design should feel effortless without ever being ordinary—honest in its materials, clear in its purpose and timeless in its presence, creating objects and spaces that resonate quietly with those who use them.
The website is currently taking shape, alongside the studio itself. Soon, Prieto & Vega will share more about its work, its process and the ideas behind the studio. Until then, thank you for visiting. Your return will be warmly welcomed.
